AC Sync is a Windows client for Assetto Corsa. You select a community server and a series. AC Sync then compares the files on your PC with the file list from the server.
AC Sync downloads only content that is missing or outdated. Typical content lives in Assetto Corsa's content folder, such as cars, tracks, skins or apps.
No. Drivers install only the Windows client. Sync Server is the backend for admins who provide content for their community.
No. Sync runs from server to client. Your PC downloads content, but AC Sync does not upload private files from your PC to the server.
No. AC Sync is not a launcher and not an installer. It cannot run programs, installers or scripts; it only compares files, downloads them and places them in the selected folder.
No. AC Sync cannot delete files or folders. It can add missing files and replace outdated files with the current version from the server. Local extra files remain in place.
It checks file size first. If needed, AC Sync calculates a SHA-256 checksum. That way it downloads only what is really missing or no longer matches the server list.
Downloads are written to a temporary .acsync_tmp file first. Only when size and checksum match does AC Sync replace the real file. Broken downloads are discarded.
No. AC Sync checks server paths before writing files. Files are not allowed to leave the selected Assetto Corsa folder.
AC Sync tries to find your Assetto Corsa Steam installation automatically. You can change the folder. It should be the real Assetto Corsa root folder with AssettoCorsa.exe and content.
Auto-Sync is optional. When enabled, AC Sync can wait for server changes in the background and update the selected series automatically.
Autostart is optional as well. If enabled, AC Sync starts with Windows, usually in the system tray. You can turn it off again at any time.
Admins can protect individual series on the Sync Server with a password. The client then asks for that password when loading the file list or downloading content.
Sync Server is the service for admins. It manages projects or series, creates file lists with sizes and checksums and serves the files to AC Sync.
A project usually represents a series or event. The Assetto Corsa files live below content. The server turns that into the list that the client compares.
Upload, delete, rename and folder creation are admin features. They can be limited to local access and additionally protected with an admin token.
